As COVID-19 fades from the headlines, it seems appropriate to look back and recognize the enormous effort of the PBMC and WCGH care teams to keep our communities healthy and safe. Whether they provided direct patient care or supported those who did, our care team members continued to live our values and display their commitment to caring for others. I am deeply grateful for the dedication they bring to their work every day.
While we continued to contend with the ever-changing challenges brought on by COVID-19, 2022 turned out be a year of hope. We began the process of learning to live with COVID as an endemic, like the flu, rather than the pandemic we battled over the previous years. We have adapted and remain at the ready when new variants emerge. And we do so now with a highly vaccinated population, improved treatments for those who do become infected and better systems for monitoring the disease. As a result, we are now stronger and more prepared for what comes next.
